Phoenix

I'm out in Phoenix for the week visiting faithsalutes. We haven't seen each other since May and a visit was long overdue. Faith has done so much to her home since the last time I was here (she had just moved and we spent a lot of our time unpacking & organizing in a house with no AC). The AC is now working great and the house is coming along. We have very very different tastes and decorating styles, but I like that about us.

This morning I snuck around and took a few photos. Faith has always been good at creating little vignettes with objects. I struggle with this part of decor most of all, but she always inspires me. Here are two favorites:

Ugh.

My blogging has been pretty lame this week. But it's been a weird week overall. The only time my brain seems to be working these days is between the hours of 8pm - 1am so I end up doing a lot of work during that time and then sleeping during the day. Not sure if its the pregnancy or what, but I guess I should get used to it. The main topic of discussion around here lately has been sleep and how we are never going to get any.ever.again.

With that said, I'm looking forward to the weekend and our friend's wedding up in Yosemite. I love Yosemite and have so many good memories from there. I'm bringing our RolleiFlex camera and am anticipating some good inspiration.

We were pretty inspired at the beach last weekend, as you can tell from these photos - taken with our friend Mark's LOMO.

Happy Birthday Momma!

Today is my lovely mom's birthday. Because she's a lady, I will not tell you which birthday, but here's a photo of her with my dad when she was around my age:

It's a...

BOY!!!

It's official. There is a little baby in there and turns out, we are having a son! Quite a few people thought the opposite, but I think it's just because I'm girly and they wanted me to have a little protege. I have never seen such a big smile on Forest's face and that alone made me so happy. I always wanted boys before I got pregnant. There is just something about how a little boy loves his mama.

I don't have a photo, but I think those always mean more to the parents than anyone else. It's much more amazing to see the little heart pumping on the video screen or the leg kicking. When they freeze a frame and print it you're like "what is that again?"

His foot almost caused huge problems because it was strategically positioned in front of that crucial area and the doctor was not going to call it without 100% confidence. With a little prodding he cooperated - it's a good thing because I was so excited to find out the gender I didn't get anything done leading up to our appointment. I would have been so disappointed, but the little guy came through.

He weighs 10 ounces, a little bigger than normal for 19 weeks. Hopefully that means he comes early. Although, I was 9 lbs. 9 oz. when I was born so he might just be a big boy. But I really hope not. Ouch.

Conferencing Today and Tomorrow

I'll be down in LA at a Pictage photographer's conference today and tomorrow and probably won't be blogging again until Friday.

I look forward to these twice-yearly conferences - two days of great speakers and meeting photographers from all over the country. Plus I usually learn a thing or two and it gets me excited about being a photographer again. I need a pep talk every once and a while.

Our House is on Design*Sponge Today

Grace over at Design*Sponge has been so good to me, posting about my photos a few times on her blog. Then she asked if we wanted to do a sneak peek of our house....um, ok! I was stressed about taking these photos and trying to make our house look exciting, but it also forced me to finish some unfinished projects.

I read d*s daily and know that many of you do too - Grace's personal style is so classy and she always posts about such great designers, artists, crafters..I am honored to be in their company.

Jessica & Jason's Wedding

Everything about this wedding was beautiful. The Ebell Theater on Wilshire in Los Angeles is an amazing venue - so nostalgic of old Los Angeles - and Jessica reminded us all of Princess Grace in her lace Monique Lhuillier Gown. Jason was wonderful too - he and his boys treated us to their rendition of "You've lost that lovin' feeling" during the reception. They sang their hearts out and made Jessica laugh. Congratulations you two and have a fabulous time in Greece!

Thanks also to Sarajane of Grand Events for making it one of the most calm and enjoyable wedding days - a good coordinator makes all the difference!

Gocco on Flickr

I have a new obsession: Gocco. I didn't really know what it was until I found this seller on Etsy and then did a search on flickr. Wow, there is so much out there. Here are some of my faves:


I have been really interested in print making lately and wanted to take a class at the junior college, but didn't feel like I could fit it in right now with everything else. But now I'm thinking this might be a good way to start experimenting at home because the machine itself is small. And because I'm me, I am already thinking about baby announcements in the Spring...how fun would it be to print my own?

I'm especially excited about the prospect of making prints out of my photos.Do any of you have one or have any experience? I'd love to hear.
