[Love=Creature elephant in B's room. He just makes me happy.]

I am so thankful it is Friday. More so today than in weeks past. Maybe it's because we get to see Faith & Ryan and Forest's family this weekend and Forest has Monday off - and we might go to IKEA. Yes, lots to look forward to in the next three days.

Last night I was working in the wee hours and realized how much I like Paul Simon. I have such random music tastes - after that I took it back to the Summer before my Sr. year of high school with Supermix Dance Hits '96. That was 12 years ago! Wow I feel old. But nothing like Ace of Base & "Rythm of the Night" to keep you awake. Remember that song? And the Macarena - original version - that was on there too.

Whatever you have planned this weekend, I hope it's fun. Summer of '96 fun.

New Office Folders

For my new office I have been wanting to glam things up in the desktop department. I went on a hunt for some pretty file folders to organize my current jobs and found these via Oh Joy!

New file folders from her Nantaka Joy line, available at Anthropologie. Pretty aren't they?

New Header

Because that's the best I could do today. I love this photo of my boys and especially love the color of the mustard flowers.

If I had an hour to myself today this is what I would have posted:
- photo snippets of B's room which is coming along nicely
- a deep, thoughtful entry about "transition" and how that word describes pretty much every single aspect of our lives right now.
- photos photos photos - lots to catch up on

Hopefully tomorrow...

Some very mean bad person tried to steal my domain and my blog has been down for days! Forest worked for hours today to take it back and everything seems to be fine now.

Boo Internet bullies.

**If you want to know more, Forest wrote a brief explanation in the comments that may or may not make sense. It's complicated and probably won't happen again, but if you're curious...**

Candy is Sweet

But candy tables are sweeter.

I shot a wedding last night with a VERY fun and abundant candy table. I had a candy table at my own wedding, but never actually got to see it in all it's glory since we were away for the whole cocktail hour taking photos and by the time we got to the reception it had been obliterated. Lesson learned: use smaller bags. Anyway, I took a ton of photos just to make sure Carolyn didn't miss out on hers!

As you can see I played around with the shoes and the rings on the table too...then I just started goofing around with gummy bears...

And here's the happy couple

I will show more of this wedding because I have some more shots I really like...but yay for candy tables and yay for Robert & Carolyn!

Amy Baby

Amy Butler has done it again! I just received my copy of Little Stitches by Little Ones and I am smitten. Oh so many projects have now been added to my "to make" list. There's not enough time in the day.

Baker helped me photograph some of my favorite pages from the book. My little assistant.

There are those blocks again! Martha has her own version of these and I have a box full of foam cubes waiting to be covered. It's cutting out all those little squares that gives me major anxiety. When do I have time for that? But they're so cute and I know plenty of babies who would enjoy knocking over their own set of handmade blocks. Maybe this weekend. Maybe.

If you're a fan of babies and Amy Butler go buy this book! The photography by Colin McGuire is so sweet too.

Christine and Greg's Wedding

The best part was when I asked Christine for her shoes and she pulled out her customized hot pink & purple Nikes! I can only sum up this wedding as pure fun - athletica (her dress had a hoodie) meets Baroque meets childlike fantasy (hello, breakfast for dinner & a tree made of donuts!). Christine put her artistic talents to work with the many gorgeous & thoughtful reception details, it was a joy to photograph. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

Getting Ready

Rich Details

Cereal Bar! They also had crepes, french toast & an espresso bar. Yum.

We're back!

We're back! It was a lovely week on the cruise ship - we definitely relaxed and I read 2 1/2 books in one week, so I feel very accomplished. I didn't get as much time in the sun as I expected, but it's tough when you have a pasty white baby with you at all times. It was just nice to live without a schedule for seven days and we have pretty much decided that vacation will always include one set of grandparents from here on out : )

Today I'm responding to some urgent emails, but other than that just trying to take care of some house stuff. Our refrigerator stopped working for an undetermined length of time last week so I have that to deal with and I broke my toe in Mazatlan so I have that to take care of as well. Thankfully it is just the baby toe and not one of the bigger players. Dang sand-colored rocks! It did put a damper on my workout schedule I was supposed to keep up. I got in one Pilates class before The Unfortunate Incident.

Hope you all had a great week and be back tomorrow with photos from a very fun wedding I photographed a few weeks ago!

Cruise Week: Swim

We're at sea today so in honor of all the water, thre most important element of cruise attire - the swim suit. I don't feel that one pieces are flattering on me, but these retro-inspired cuts make me want to try again.

Well that's the end of our cruise! Hope my little collections were entertaining even just a bit. I will be back next week with lots of photos to share from recent shoots and hopefully all the work I did to get caught up will allow me time to sew a bit too. Ahoy mates!

Cruise Week: Formal Night

It's formal night on the ship. That means cocktail dresses for the ladies and suits & ties or tuxes for the gents. Any of these with sassy heels and a cute clutch and I'm ready to dine and dance the night away.

Cruise Week: Shoes

Faithsalutes calls her style cruisewear with a little Euro trash. She pulls off topsiders better than most. Even on a boat you gotta have the whole package and I would love to bring all these with me. I'd be prepared for every activity: shuffleboard, lounging, cocktails, strolling, dining...this post is dedicated to Faithy - spurring my love for Nautical with her deck shoes and sailor pants.

Cruise Week: Hats

I loove hats! I'm trying to up my sophistication pool side and stay away from the baseball/military cap arena. I don't own a fedora, but I really really want to make that look work. If I had my act together my first choice would be that straw one from Urban Outfitters. But instead I will be sporting....a white military cap from Target...eesh.

Cruise Week: Cover Ups definitely wins the most cover-ups sold contest. I think all these are from there except one. This is an essential vacation item for me...because I am modest and not a super model. I need a little something to throw on for those trips to the cantina.

August 1, 2008

Did I tell you we're going on a cruise to Mexico on Sunday? My whole family is going courtesy of our wonderful and generous Grandmother.

I'm pretty excited. Although, I think my imagination of what this trip will be like is pretty off. In my mind I see myself on a yacht in the Mediterranean adorned in perfect resort wear every day. In reality it's more like "Cancun on the Open Seas", and me in a baseball cap. But whatever, it will be fun!

We will be totally without Internet access (unless we want to pay $28/, no thank you. I would rather buy 4 margaritas) so this week I'll be bringing you my favorites in cruising accessories. We start with the pool/beach tote. I am supposed to be making my own, but just in case that doesn't happen by Sunday any of these would do just fine:

On Monday: Cover-ups!
