Steveyann and Nathan's Wedding Sneak Peek

So after this photo do I even have to tell you how RAD Steveyann & Nathan's wedding was on Saturday? I'm so excited to show you more, but these shoes should give you an idea of what the day was like. Creative, colorful, vintage & elegant. Not surprising considering Steveyann is studying interior design & Nathan is an architect. More images to come soon, but for now bask in the orange glow of her fabulous heels.

Wow, what a week this has been so far. I have been to San Francisco twice - Monday for a great workshop with Jose Villa & Gene Higa & Wednesday to take part in an ad campaign (can't say more about that one just yet). I am so tired & have a wedding this weekend to gear up for, so I'm going to try and lay low today & get some work done.

But, I drew a winner for my give-away & have to announce that!

The winner is 61st commenter Susie of Susie Songbird!
Yay! Email me with your address and I'll send out your gift right away.

Thank you all for the sweet comments. I receive my comments as emails & my Inbox was out of control for a couple days! Instead of reading each one individually I went through them all on the blog at the end of the day, and it was just a continuous smile on my face. Giveaways are so fun, I will definitely be doing more.

This image is from my last trip to San Francisco in June. It's at a cafe near Timeless Treasures that I can't remember the name of, but if you're there ask Joan and she'll tell you. They had the lovliest collection of mismatched chairs inside.

300th Post!

I was just blogging away last week when I looked at the post numbers and realized I was quickly approaching 300. Then I promptly stopped blogging for the week because I wanted to do something special for this post and couldn't think of anything good : )

Then B came up with this idea for him to sit in his rocker & hold a big 300 in his mouth. I think he just wanted to be in the picture (Camera hog). Anyway, I humored him...

This blog has been such a wonderful outlet for me creatively, personally & professionally. It's pretty much responsible for the creativity "revival" I experienced about a year and a half ago, and I have to once again thank my bff Faith for encouraging me to do it. Thank you, thank you.

And as a little thank you to all who stop by here I wanted to do a give-away. Who doesn't love a give-away? I sure do. I also wanted to make something cool for this give-away, but time is just not on my side lately. It's a fact I'm coming to terms with.

So instead, the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Anthropologie. Buy yourself something nice and pretend I made it for you : )

Leave a comment by Tuesday, September 23 @ midnight and I'll draw one random winner!

And here are some outtakes from our shoot. Baker lost his motivation a couple times...

On My Mind

I have a lot on my mind today: sick babies in China, the train crash in LA, storms in Texas...sad stuff, man. I was looking through some recent film scans and this image kind of looked like my thoughts, if thoughts could be photographed.

Sunday with the Alborg Family

I spent one lovely Sunday afternoon back in June with the Alborg Family at their beautiful French Style home. It was the perfect Sunday in my book! Bocce ball, margaritas, the pool, babies & dogs - each couple either had a baby or a pup. It was cute : )

I have been missing this week because I took a little two-day retreat to attend Pictage's PartnerCon in LA and left my computer & camera at home (gasp). I am always apprehensive before hand because meeting new people is scary for me & I'm not quite "in" the photographer scene like some others, but afterward I am always glad I went. This time was no different and I will share a bit more, but I know it will only be interesting to a handful of people so I will keep it short : )

And I'm coming up on my 300th post soon and want to do something special for that! Something that involves giving away something to someone who reads this blog. Now what will that something be...

I am going to make this

For the daughter I don't have...or for someone else's daughter. Melissa & Lynne have a wonderful blog and Lynne's 4-year old dresses cooler than me on most days. It's no wonder when she has a mom who makes fabulous clothes for her to wear. I just had to have this and know someday it will make a little girl happy.

The Jones/Schneider Family in Santa Barbara

I was looking through my blog posts today and noticed that there are 4 or 5 shoots from this Summer that I never posted. Shame on me. So I'm going to try and catch up - since I'm so busy with work right now and don't have time for much else, this is good. At least I have something to post here.

This sweet family came to me through this very blog. Kirsten is a reader and while she and her family were out in Santa Barbara for vacation we took some photos at the lovely Butterfly Beach in Montecito.
Gorgeous Grandmas & Sweet Anderson

He was a happy kid, especially after getting soaked by the waves he got a little to close to

Kirsten and her husband

And I love this family photo. I like the arrangement and the emotion. No on is really looking at the camera, they're just having fun as a family. Those are my favorite moments to capture.

As is pretty common with me, I didn't want my session to end. They all seemed so great and were having fun just being a family. And they put up with my camera in their face despite this photo shoot being a surprise! I will say this about surprise photo shoots -they usually don't have the "impact" you're hoping for...something about having the way you look immortalized in photo form that people do not get that excited for. Kirsten said she had a big announcement to make and they all thought she was pregnant! Instead, she was announcing she'd book a photographer (me) for the next day. Poor Kirsten. I'm no second grandchild and was probably not their favorite person at the beginning of this, but hopefully they feel differently about it now and are thanking her for the "surprise".

I had fun & thanks Jones/Schneider family! If you ever come to SB again call me and I'll buy you all a round of drinks : )
