I can never seem to decorate our house all in one weekend. This year I wanted to find some more things for our mantle so after a trip to the Rose Bowl Flea, a few ebay purchases, and one night of felt & hot glue it feels finished. As Forest said, it's like a little Winter Wonderland up there.
I wasn't sure about hanging my vintage glass ornaments this year, but I was feeling all the bright colors and so far B has been respectful. I think having his own little tree helped - he can touch those ornaments all he wants :)
The felt wreath is one I saw on The Littlest Blog (via You Are My Fave). It was really easy to make - per You Are My Fave, I just free cut piles of leaf shapes and hot glued them onto a styrofoam wreath. I made the flower out of felt from a Martha Stewart Weddings fabric flower pattern.
Also have to talk about my new obsession, Sputnik starburst ornaments from the 1950's. I found three silver ones at the Rose Bowl, then bought a lot of 40 on ebay for the same price as the three (oh well). Next year I want to hang them in our windows. I love how our Christmas decorations change every year and build on what I collect.
Even though I always think life will slow down after wedding season, it never really does. Finding time to blog is more and more challenging, but this has rainy indoors week has been just what I needed. Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year from our house to yours - xoxo
